Meaning of Astrology (What it is, Concept and Definition) - Meanings

What is Astrology?
As astrology is called the study of the position and movements of the stars and their influence on people and events in the world . The word, as such, comes from the Greek ἀστρολογία (astrology), which means study or science that deals with the stars.

Astrology is based on a series of beliefs and superstitions according to which, from the interpretation of the movement of the stars, earth events can be known and predicted, because these are linked in some way with our reality.

In its beginnings, astrology was even considered an academic discipline of scientific rank. However, with the discoveries and evolution of physics and astronomy, it was being relegated to the background.

Nowadays, astrology is considered by the scientific community as a pseudoscience or as a simple superstition , because it is not really able to explain the phenomena of the universe. In addition, a scientific way of explaining how the stars influence human beings and history has not been found.

However, many cultures, such as India, China, Maya or Aztec, throughout history developed systems for predicting events that were based on astrology and the observation of the stars.

Nowadays, a very popular application of astrology is in the elaboration of horoscopes , according to which the personalities and life history of a person can be predicted by knowing the position of the stars at the moment of birth.
